World Series of Poker® Launches Historic 1-of-1 NFTs Through Auctions on WAX

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is set to release a collection of rare 1-of-1 NFTs in partnership with The Worldwide Asset eXchange (WAX). The first auction launches today, Wednesday, November 17, giving fans and collectors alike the opportunity to bid for NFTs highlighting the prestigious event’s most memorable moments.
The first NFTs to be auctioned are a collection of six “Gallery of Champions” moments, representing some of the most iconic moments in World Series of Poker “Main Event” history. A nail-biting clip of the monumental win Chris Moneymaker secured during the 2003 Main Event Championship will mark the start of the collection, with the bidding for each WSOP 1-of-1 starting at 100 WAXP at 10% bid increments.
“We are excited to be memorializing the most important moments in poker history in NFT form,” said World Series of Poker Senior Vice President, Ty Stewart. “We look forward to fans having the chance to own a captured piece of WSOP’s more than 50 years of history.”
In addition to 1/1 auctions, WSOP NFT packs will soon be released featuring unique series including members of the Poker Hall of Fame and WSOP bracelet winners. Subsequent auctions will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays for the next three weeks at 1pm ET. They will feature other history-making moments by the likes of Scotty Nguyen, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Stu Ungar, and Phil Hellmuth.
“There is strong interest in NFTs in the poker community,” said William Quigley, Co-Founder of WAX. “WAX couldn’t be happier to partner with the premier brand in the sport, the World Series of Poker, for these NFTs that give fans and NFT collectors the opportunity to own a unique memento to some of the most iconic World Series of Poker moments of all time.”
The Main Event of this year’s World Series of Poker began on Thursday, November 4 and will end on Wednesday, November 17. Fans and interested parties alike can visit the WSOP 2021 schedule for more information. They can also learn more about WAX by visiting wax.io and about the auction by visiting wdny.io.
